Rohu Fish (1 Kg) (Seasonal)
Approx. Size: 1-2 pieces per Kg and also 1Kg+ per fish
Rohu is a very popular fish in the subcontinent and in places like Thailand. It is a popular Bengali Fish too. The flesh of Rohu is white, tender, smooth in texture and mild with practically no fishy taste. But they tend to be a bit annoying for some people due to their spiny nature. Also known as Reba, Coala Kendai.
Most cooking methods suitable for a large fish can be used for Rohu. It remains firm enough to steam and for pan frying with a light dusting of rice flour. Make a note to not cut carp into pieces smaller than about 2 inches on a side which will make the spines nearly impossible to deal with.
Health benefits: They are a rich source of Iron, zinc, iodine, potassium, calcium and selenium.
